Bingley-based fashion retailer, Damart, celebrated the fifth birthday of The Silver Line, the free confidential helpline for the elderly to help prevent isolation and loneliness, with a week-long series of fundraisers including an afternoon tea for elderly members of the local community.
As well as the afternoon tea, colleagues at Damart pooled together their silver change and organised a raffle and tannoy bingo to raise money for The Silver Line as part of the charity’s Silver Week celebration.
Ben Phillips, Head of Ecommerce, said, “We’ve been advocates of The Silver Line since 2014 and we’re proud to be celebrating their fifth birthday, whilst shining light on the fantastic work they do. The Silver Line runs a vital 24-hour helpline which receives over 10,000 calls every week to help combat loneliness.
“It was great to see people from our local community engaging in afternoon tea as well as colleagues fundraising to help support the charity’s vital work. The average Damart customer is 74 years old, so supporting a charity that aims to help seniors is something we’re very passionate about and means a lot to us as a business.”
