Bingley-based home shopping company, Damart, celebrated its 10th year of fundraising for Heart Research UK with a 10-day fundraising event to raise proceeds for the charity.
Damart’s event for Heart Research UK saw several fundraising activities for all colleagues to take part in including a raffle that offered an array of healthy prizes, a charity swap shop, a free fruit day and a mile-long sponsored canal walk.
The charity walk took place on Friday 26th July and saw 100 Damart colleagues getting involved. Damart’s 10-day event raised over £700 for the charity, whilst over the past 10 years, Damart has raised £55,000 for Heart Research UK.
Jo Phipps, Damart’s Colleague Engagement Advisor, said: “We are proud to have partnered with Heart Research UK for the past 10 years and each year we look forward to finding new and fun ways to raise money and awareness. It’s a great way to not only help fund groundbreaking heart disease research, but also to educate and inspire our colleagues to lead a healthier lifestyle.
“At Damart we are honored to have been awarded and retained the prestigious “Healthy Heart Employer – Gold Standard Award” since 2010. Receiving this award annually takes a lot of commitment and dedication from everyone in the company. We’re the first company in West Yorkshire to attain the Gold standard and are flattered to be the benchmark for other companies to win the award.”
Marie Peacock, Head of Income Generation at Heart Research UK, added: “We are so thankful to have colleagues at companies such as Damart band together to raise funds for our charity. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Damart for 10 years and in this time, the team has never failed to show commitment and enthusiasm for their fundraising events, and this is why they are so deserving of our Gold Award.”
