Hi, I’m Linda and I’m Damart UK’s People Director.
Originally from Manchester, my fashion career started on the shop floor at a department store called Lewis’s. I had various roles, eventually reaching the position of Concessions Controller, before moving on to Berkertex, a retailer specialising in Occasion Wear. Following that I spent eight years at The Edinburgh Woollen Mill, finally joining Damart in 1999.
I came to Damart in May 1999 as their Shops Retail Controller – at that time we had 22 shops around the country. After the decision was made to focus on mail order and web as our key trading channels, I was instrumental (along with a great team) in closing all of our retail sites after which I was promoted to HR Director.
My favourite thing about working at Damart is the culture and the people. It really is an amazingly friendly place with people who work hard and are committed to the customer and the organization.
I’m also a proud grandmother to two girls, so I’m already talking to them about the Gender Pay Gap and the lack of female CEOs! Beyond that, my personal passion is Manchester United Football club – I’ve been a season ticket holder since 1997.
