Hello, my name is Stuart and I’m the Finance & Customer Service Director – an unusual combination of responsibilities, but fortunately I have a varied CV to support them.
On the finance side I’m a Chartered Accountant. After qualifying in Manchester I first went to work overseas in Auckland, New Zealand, before landing various finance roles at Asda Stores Limited.
On the customer side, prior to joining Damart I was Sales & Operations Controller for Johnstones Leyland Decorating Centres, responsible for 160 branches and a 65-strong sales force selling paint, wall coverings and accessories to professional painters and decorators.
I joined Damart in 2004 thinking I would stay for three years or so, but what keeps me here is our constant drive for improvement and our commitment to putting our customers at the heart of everything we do – earning us the ‘Servicemark’ from the Institute of Customer Service.
Damart’s commitment to becoming the first Gold Standard Healthy Heart employer in Yorkshire inspired me to take advantage of our Cycle to Work scheme in 2011. Now I cycle further and climb higher every year, travelling around the UK and Europe in search of the next challenge. Luckily I have a very understanding family!
