THE ROLE

Reporting to the Network and Telephony Technical Manager in France, you will define the technical architecture of the telephony system in both France and the UK and ensure the consistency and durability of all I.T. resources, whilst making the best use of any available options as part of the company’s development plan. The role will be based in both France and the UK, with regular monthly travel between the two countries – you will need to be a great communicator with good use of verbal & written English and French.

The key responsibilities of the Telephony Technical Architect are;

  • Be a true expert with regard to telephony, you will have sound knowledge of all technical aspects and provide internal advice (especially by actively monitoring the market)
  • Manage the technical assets of your area (stock inventory, licence inventory, maintenance contracts, etc.)
  • Analyse and check the technical impact of any new solutions, projects or technologies and ensure that they will be consistent with any existing or planned architecture
  • Define the technological orientation of your area and the framework of technical development
  • Define and manage the usage scenarios and technical standards
  • Produce the Technical Architecture documentation and ensure that the technical options are suitable for the specific needs of the business
  • Manage the technical architecture repository: tools, procedures, architecture standards, vocabulary, security
  • Continually perform capacity planning of the equipment in your area and monitor the performance of its infrastructure
  • Provide the operations teams with the equipment administration tools and procedures, as well as the software for the area
  • Intervene to resolve incidents when Operations escalate problems (N3) and help to reduce the number of incidents by implementing a Continuous Improvement Plan for recurring incidents

 

Essential experience and qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in IT and have extensive experience in the field of telephony, with a proven track record to demonstrate your skills in this area.  You will be comfortable working cross functionally, have strong interpersonal skills and be customer focused. Having an open, enquiring mind with a pragmatic nature is also key.
