Bingley-based home shopping company, Damart celebrated its Heart Research UK partnership with a charity walk in celebration of HRUK’s 50th Birthday last week.
The walk saw 150 Damart colleagues get involved, with the company sponsoring each person £5 to complete their mile, whether they walked, jogged or ran. Damart raised over £750 for Heart Research UK, adding to the £40,000 Damart has already raised for the charity.
The walkers set off at 9am Wednesday 13th September from the Damart Bradley Mill entrance at Bowling Green Mills, headed up the Five Rise Locks and back again in a series of group stints.
For the colleagues who were unable to take part or preferred to donate some of their own money to the cause, Damart organised other fantastic internal events from healthy eating to a raffle with an array of healthy prizes up for grabs such as a fruit juicers, pamper kits and a FitBit.
Jo Phipps, Employee Engagement Advisor said, “It is great to be able to promote fun activities at working to inspire healthier lifestyles for a fantastic charity, who are pioneering research to issues that can affect us all.”
Over the past 5 decades, Heart Research UK has spent more than £22.6m on groundbreaking medical research and, over the past 10 years, invested a further £2.1m on helping communities change to heart-healthy lifestyles.
