Colleagues at Damart, the Bingley-based home-shopping company, raised £705 during a recent ‘Silver Week’ by hosting a series of fundraising activities to support The Silver Line, the free confidential helpline for the elderly set-up to help prevent isolation and loneliness.
Activities during the week to help raise awareness and funds for the charity included a Royal Wedding bake-off, a crossword challenge and tannoy bingo. The company also opened its doors and welcomed elderly members of the local community to an afternoon tea at its head office.
Jo Phipps, Employee Engagement Advisor at Damart, said: “The Silver Line is a charity we feel passionately about supporting as it’s a cause that is close to many of us and resonates with our customers. We wanted to have a little fun and bring staff and the community together for this year’s Silver Week activity.
“We are thrilled with the success of our internal fundraising efforts as we know this money will provide vital care and support for the elderly who need a friendly voice and someone to listen. We also support The Silver Line through a product-led initiative throughout the year.”
