Bingley-based over-50s home shopping retailer, Damart is providing wellness initiatives to ensure colleagues working from home feel supported, including the introduction of desk yoga to their schedules.
Desk yoga is a live 15-minute morning session run by a professional yoga teacher, that Damart colleagues can access online. This style of seated yoga is inclusive for all abilities with gentle movements, shown to increase strength and flexibility and reduce stress.
Damart’s People Director, Claire Allcock said: “Currently, most of our staff our working from home and research has shown this can have a negative impact on mental health, making additional support increasingly important. We’ve been working hard to encourage colleagues to look after their physical and mental health whilst working from home.”
Alongside the yoga, Damart colleagues have been offered equipment to improve their workspace and details of mental health first aiders and helplines have been circulated encouraging anyone struggling with their mental health to reach out for support.
Claire said: “We recognise that colleagues may be struggling living through the pandemic and everything that brings and we are keen to ensure that we give them as much support as possible.”
