Bingley-based home shopping giant, Damart has continued its sponsorship of the Ben Ramsden Merit crown green bowling competition which saw local bowlers return to competition last weekend following recent Covid restrictions.
The competition is organised by Bradford Crown Green Bowls Association which Damart has sponsored for several years. It took place at Spen Victoria CA & BC Cleckheaton on Sunday August 29 attracting 64 entries.
Chairman of Bradford Crown Green Bowls Association, Tony Riley said: “We are extremely grateful to Damart for their continued support of the Association. We’ve all missed our competitions having not played any since before March 2020 because of the pandemic, so it was wonderful to see all those bowlers competing again on Sunday for the Ben Ramsden Merit trophy.
“The event has been played annually, except for last year, since 1981 for a lovely trophy donated by two daughters in memory of their father, bowler, Ben Ramsden.”
Damart’s online merchandise manager, Claire Brown said: “We’re always really pleased to support local clubs like the Bradford Crown Green Bowls Association who are making a difference in our community. It’s been a difficult 18 months for everyone and we’re delighted to help the Association put on this competition, we wish all the players every success.”
