I’m Chris Aitken Head of Logistics and based in Steeton, West Yorkshire. Before joining Damart in 2005 my background was in food manufacturing and in my spare time I loved experimenting in the kitchen impersonating a well-known TV chef. In my 21 years at Damart my 2 children have become adults, allowing me to expand my travel horizons and get some miles under my belt. The Mail and Print Centre moved down the way to Steeton from Earby to become a combined Logistics team with our Distribution Centre. I was focused on this area initially, working closely with our Marketing teams to produce various catalogue campaigns and promotions. Expanding my remit a while later to include planning, supply chain stock systems, facilities and customer order operations before becoming Head of Logistics in 2019. There are many more changes that we have made to continually improve the way we work; to update and modernise the service we offer to customers and to other teams within the Damartex Group. The commitment and dedication of the teams I work with is second to none; they continue to surprise me with their appetite to innovate and enhance their skills to make this achievable. I’m looking forward to seeing and experiencing what the future holds for our teams, for Damart and for our loyal customers.
