I am originally from New Zealand but moved to the UK in 1990 to see the world. Since then I have lived and worked in London, the Czech Republic and Turkey but I moved to Yorkshire in 2005 and have stayed there since. Over the years I have worked for an accountancy firm, a holiday company, a supermarket chain, a logistics company serving clothing retailers, a grocery wholesaler, a hardware store chain and since November 2019 - Damart.
My main job is to ensure our business operates safely in compliance with laws and regulations, keeping careful control of our resources but also providing my colleagues with accurate information that supports decision making and planning. That is much more fun than it sounds. Home shopping retail is actually quite a complicated business but I am always impressed with the skill and dedication everyone at Damart brings to their job. We work very closely with our colleagues in France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland and it is great being part of that bigger business as well.
In my spare time I try and stay fit, travel, cook barbecues whatever the weather, make home improvements, read history and stay up to date regarding technology and the world. Yorkshire is a nice place to live and work although the winters have taken a bit of getting used to.
